Frequently Asked Questions

Is a bookkeeper an accountant? What’s the difference between the two?

A bookkeeper often works with small businesses to record all purchases and sales that company makes. They keep day-to-day records of your business’s accounts, so you know where you stand as far as income, expenses, and cash-on-hand goes.

An accountant, on the other hand, does this and much more. Accountants can analyze data to draw conclusions, plus make suggestions that can help your business grow. It’s fair to say that an accountant can be a bookkeeper, but a bookkeeper may not necessarily be an accountant.

How often will my virtual bookkeeper work on my books?

This depends on how much bookkeeping work you have and what you need. When you contact My Accounts Lady, we’ll discuss what your needs are and how much work you’ll have, then we’ll determine a schedule that meets those needs.

Can I use your services if I already have an accountant?

Absolutely! I support a number of accountants to complete the bookkeeping side of the business for mutual clients. Think of me + your accountant as your 'dream team'.

Why do I need a bookkeeper?

Hiring a bookkeeper to assist in the financial operation of your business will allow you to devote your time to other more important things – like core business needs or spending time with your family. A professional bookkeeper will also save you money by eliminating mistakes and missed payments caused by lack of knowledge or lack of time. By working with My Accounts Lady, you can rest assured knowing that everything will be handled on time and in a professional and compliant manner.

Why work with My Accounts Lady?

You will have a dedicated bookkeeper ensuring that you receive personalised and reliable service. I understand that every business has unique requirements, which is why I work closely with you to understand your business needs and tailor my services accordingly. Deadlines will be met on time, you will receive reasonable charges, agreed monthly fees, and be dealing with a local bookkeeper.

How do you receive my documents? Do I need to give you my receipts?

I can receive your documents via a unique email or through a receipt program, depending on your individual needs and the complexity of your requirements. You don’t need to provide me with physical receipts. Instead, you can simply email them to me, and we will be able to access and organise them for your accounting records. That said, if you want to drop off paper receipts that can also be arranged.

What is your billing arrangement?

I like to keep it simple, on the first day of every month you will receive an invoice for the agreed monthly fee, this invoice is payable within 7 days. If I have completed any pre-arranged extra work this will be invoiced on completion and payable within 7 days.

Do you need access to my bank account?

During your transition to My Accounts Lady we will ensure that your bank accounts are connected to our software to ensure streamlined data transfer. So, for the most part, we’ll have all the transaction information we need to do your bookkeeping. We will not need access to your actual bank account and we would be unable to make any transactions. The security of your bank account remains completely intact.

What types of businesses do you work with?

I work with a wide range of businesses, including sole traders, partnerships, small businesses, and sometimes medium-sized businesses.
